Is a PPD supposed to itch?
Occasionally, there can be some itching at the site, but try to avoid scratching! DO not use any creams on the site (including Benadryl or Cortisone) since they will interfere with the results of your test. You CAN apply a cold compress to the area to alleviate the itching.
Is redness normal after PPD?
The test may be seen as positive if the skin where you were injected is hard, raised, red, and swollen. But redness alone is not considered a positive test result. In many cases, a healthy immune system will surround the TB bacteria soon after you are infected.
