TrueMesh is a patented eero technology that relies on dynamic routing algorithms and real-time data to help avoid drop-offs. If an eero device drops offline, our TrueMesh technology determines the ideal path for wifi traffic among your eero devices, so your signal stays strong.

How is eero different from router?

eero is designed to replace your current router with a WiFi system that provides greater Internet connection and reliability throughout your home. Most customers no longer need their older routers after installing eero. Some customers prefer to maintain their existing routers alongside their eero networks.

What does eero mesh do?

Mesh networks enable multiple routers to work in unison to deliver hyper-fast, super-stable WiFi. Each device in a mesh network connects to the other devices, rather than each device connecting to your Internet Service Provider.

Is eero 5g?

eero uses a single SSID that allows devices to live on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz radio frequency. This ensures your devices are able to move along eero’s mesh efficiently, delivering the highest results to the devices throughout your entire home.

Is eero a Zigbee hub?

The eero 6 systems are equipped with a built-in Zigbee smart home hub, eliminating the need for additional Zigbee hubs around the home. Featuring a built-in Zigbee smart home hub, the eero 6 systems connect compatible devices on your network with Alexa so you don’t need a separate Zigbee smart home hub for each device.

Is eero just a WiFi extender?

Unlike the familiar router-to-range extender network configuration, eero is a WiFi system that uses multiple access points to provide your home with fast, reliable coverage all on a single network. Range extenders can expand the reach of your existing wireless network.

Can I use eero with my existing router?

To get the most out of your eero WiFi system, we recommend having your eero WiFi system replace your current router and having your gateway eero plugged directly into your modem. However, if you’d like to keep using your existing router, you absolutely can.

Does eero improve WiFi?

Using Eero can often increase your Wi-Fi speeds because you can add Eero Wi-Fi extenders called Beacons around your house. This way, your Wi-Fi speeds won’t slow down when you are far from your router. Your Wi-Fi speeds should remain the same or comparable when extended through an Eero Beacon.

Is eero Zwave?

Both eero 6 and eero Pro 6 feature a built-in Zigbee smart home hub, making it easy to connect compatible devices with Alexa. So you can control certain lights, locks, plugs, and more—without the need to buy separate smart home hubs for your connected devices.

Does eero replace my router?

eero doesn’t replace your modem, it replaces your router. The first eero plugs into your existing cable or DSL modem. If you have a combination modem/router, you’ll be using that as a modem and disabling the routing function by putting it in bridge mode. (check out this article for our instructions on how to do this).

Do you still need an internet provider with eero?

In order to use eero, you will still need to have an Internet Service Provider (ISP). eero works with all ISPs in the United States and Canada.

How far apart can eeros be?

For the best experience, when wireless, eeros and eero Beacons should be no more than 50 feet apart of at least another eero.
