Try setting all the EQ’s on the amp flat (knobs pointing at 12 o’ clock). Set the amp to be at a gain level right before where you would ideally like it. Then boost it with the tubescreamer by setting that with the gain level low, and the volume high. Maybe back off the tone knob of the tubescreamer a bit.
