How long is the URI Tour?
60-minute
These are 60-minute walking tours led by URI’s student tour guides. Visitors will see our student center, several academic buildings, the library, campus housing and dining facilities, and our fitness center.
How far is URI from the beach?
You have to admit, we’re in a great spot. We’re minutes from the beach, 30 miles south of Providence, 75 miles from Boston, 160 miles from NYC, with Newport just across the bay. The Kingston Amtrak Station is right down the road from campus, T.F.

Where do URI students hang out?
Most weekends I spend either hanging out at an off campus house or just hanging out in someones room. Some people are involved in fraternities and sororities. They are fun and there are approximately 15% of students involved in them. They do a lot of community service and aren’t all the typical stereotype.
Is University of Rhode Island Fun?
No officer shall bring or keep on any campus or university building or property any personal handgun or other firearm of any kind. This prohibition extends to official vehicles as well as privately owned vehicles on university property.
Are Rhode Island beaches free?
With 400 miles of gorgeous coastline, it’s no surprise that the Ocean State has beautiful state beaches. Each beach has its own unique charm and amenities and best of all, they’re free to the public (parking is free in the off-season).
