What is Mount and Blade controversy?
The more controversy you have, the higher the chance the soldiers will desert you and lower the chance vassals will join you. High controversy will prevent your king or queen from awarding you a fief. Very high controversy for a marshall makes it likely that they will be replaced. Controversy is maxed out at 100.

Who should I give fiefs to Warband?
Give each of your trusted lords one castle each. Give untrustworhty lords one village only or nothing at all. Divide the remaining fiefs evenly among trusted lords. You can generally only keep about 5 lords happy and loyal because as you give fiefs to one, all the rest are slightly unhappy about it.
Can you trade fiefs in Warband?
In the conversation screen you can find the option to ask a lord to exchange fiefs. Simply click on the one you want and offer another of equal status – a city for a city, castle for castle, etc. You will also likely need to exchange gold as well, but this can be good.
Can you conquer all of Calradia?
Conquering Calradia is a somewhat ambiguous goal as the first Mount&Blade games were open-ended “sandbox” games, so there is no winning condition. The most obvious goal, therefore, is complete dominance over Calradia. This is achieved by eliminating all the other Factions.

You can also lose renown over time by not doing any or enough of the above. Renown is important, as it affects a number of things, such as whether you can join a faction. The base requirement to join a faction is 150, or 200 if your character is female.
How do you become a king in Mount and Blade Warband?
Find out who your faction is at war with and fight them yourself. Eventually you may be asked to be a “Mercenary” for the faction, if you’re friends with a lord or two. Accept this and prove yourself to the King. After a while of this, you can ask him about serving him again and he should say yes.
