TSB Bank Ltd (originally known as the Taranaki Savings Bank) trading as TSB, is a New Zealand bank with headquarters in New Plymouth. It has 25 branches across the country but is heavily focused on the Taranaki region where 12 of its branches are located.
Who took over TSB?
Sabadell bought the bank two years later for £1.7billion. In September this year, TSB said it would close 164 of its branches and cut 960 jobs, blaming “a significant shift in customer behaviour” due to a rise in online banking. The lender said 848 employees expected to enter consultation on the back of the decsion.

TSB’s profits have also been hit by the Covid crisis. TSB reported a £65.5m loss for the first half of 2019 compared with a profit of £21.1m a year earlier, after setting aside £111m to cover the cost of potential defaults linked to the economic downturn. TSB, Sabadell and Goldman Sachs declined to comment.
