How does AK rear sight work?

The AK74u seems stronger, but for some reason it seems to have to reload much more often. Undefeated lifetime. IMO ak47 is a terrible gun, probably the 2nd worst assault rifle behind the m4a1. The 74u is interesting but easilly outclassed by the mp5 and p90.
