What does it mean when the test line is darker than the control line on a ovulation test?

A: Women always have LH in their systems, and a faint result line is often normally visible. The level only becomes high enough to indicate impending ovulation when the test is positive (as dark or darker).

Why does my LH level fluctuate?

It is normal for LH values to fluctuate throughout the cycle. If you have very low values and don’t see a midcycle surge, you may not be ovulating. On what day does the LH reach its peak concentration?

Ovulation. When the level of estrogen is sufficiently high, it produces a sudden release of LH, usually around day thirteen of the cycle. This LH surge (peak) triggers a complex set of events within the follicles that result in the final maturation of the egg and follicular collapse with egg extrusion.

Can LH change throughout the day?

The day of the LH surge may vary from cycle to cycle in all women, just as their cycle interval may vary. In women with shorter or longer cycle lengths, the LH surge may occur before day 12 or after day 16. The LH surge may not be seen in every cycle.

Sometimes, the peak time of luteinizing hormone is short and lasts only a couple of hours.

How long for OPK to turn positive?

The package instructions will tell you that ovulation happens 24-36 hours after the positive reading. But the truth is, that depends. Do you stop testing after a positive OPK?

The moral of the story is that after you get a positive ovulation test, it is a good idea to have sex as soon as possible.
