Are there different patterns methods of tie-dye?
There are lots of different tie-dye patterns and folding techniques that you can use to create unique designs. Here are a few of the various designs you can create with tie-dye.
How do you make a spiral tie-dye shirt?
Instructions
- Prepare the workspace.
- Lay damp fabric flat on your work surface.
- Pick a spot on the fabric for the center of your spiral.
- Keep twisting.
- Secure the fabric bundle with three or more rubber bands, crossing them over the center of the spiral.
- Apply the colors of dye in alternating sections, or as desired.
How do you do the spider Tie dye technique?
Spider Tie-Dye Technique
- Fold damp shirt in half.
- Pinch shirt where you would like center of spiral to be.
- Bind spiral with three intersecting rubber bands to create six wedge shapes.
- Apply a different color of dye onto each wedge shape.
- Apply black dye to one side of spiral, completely covering other colors.
How do you tie-dye a kaleidoscope pattern?
- Kaleidoscope Ice Tie-Dye.
- Remember the fun colours and shapes from your childhood kaleidoscope?
- Fold damp shirt in half lengthwise and press flat on tabletop.
- Crumple the remaining fabric towards the spirals.
- Place ice on top of bound shirt.
- Flip shirt over and repeat process on the backside with additional dye powders.
How do you tie and dye uneven patterns?
Scrunching. This is a very basic tie and dye technique for creating uneven textured patterns on fabric. This method involves gathering and scrunching the fabric as a tube and/or into a small round and tying it using a binding thread. Tie and dye as you usually do.
