Re: Culra bothy “open” Ben Alder Cottage is indeed still open. If you were feeling adventurous you could do the death march then scramble along Loch Ericht to get there as the Loch Rannoch approach can be boggy for the last mile or so.

For us the best way in to Culra is by cycle from Dalwhinnie, and there is a good cycling track right up to the door of the bothy. There are two starting points – one from beside and behind the petrol station or from the railway station.
