How do USTA leagues work?

USTA League play is organized by skill level according to the USTA’s National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP). Each league player is assigned an NTRP rating based on their tennis ability. Players who are new to USTA League need to self-rate to obtain an NTRP rating before joining a team.

USTA Tournaments provide a showcase for players in every division and at every age level in singles, doubles, and team formats. USTA Southern California sanctions approximately 200 adult tournaments each year that include both traditional and innovative formats.

According to USTA Regulation 2.05E(2), all players age 65 or over, if promoted, will automatically be granted an appeal (A) rating of their current rating back to their previous valid Year-End rating.
