Can you reset a SCT tuner?
You must use the tuner to flash your truck back to saved stock tune and it will unmarry it at that point. You delete custom tunes from computer program you used to load them. There is a factory reset option on the tuner itself.

I had mine plugged in permanently. If you go into settings there’s an option for it to go into low power mode. I had it sit for a week with no issues, however I’ve since removed it.

We recommend that you update the device every 6-8 months if it is a newer vehicle, as we come out with updates on these vehicles regularly. If an update is required, you will need to ensure that the device is fully uninstalled from your vehicle (returned to stock).

The average time is 5-10 minutes. You know you are done when SCT Device Updater displays “Device is up to date!”
What is a Kam reset on SCT tuner?
KAM Reset. KAM stands for Keep Alive Memory and is where all the learned adjustments that the computer has made over time. Most of these are settings for fuel trims and information to help with idle stability.
Can you unlock a SCT programmer?
All SCT Tuners are $200 to Vin Unlock. All GTX and non-Ford X4 Tuners can be remotely unlocked, please contact our sales department for this service. BDX and Ford X4’s(7015) unlocks can be purchased online, so no need to call in and wait on hold!
Do you leave a tuner plugged in?
Will I have to Leave My Programmer Plugged In? No. Programmers only have to be plugged in while you are installing or modifying tuning. The exception to this rule is when you have shift on the fly tuning or monitoring systems, which accompany the programmer.
Will a tuner drain my battery?
The connector will always have power on these two pins regardless of the key position, and when you plug a device into the port it will have power and may come on by itself (many scanners/tuners do this). This can drain some power from the vehicle’s battery.

A reset will start the learning processes over by rebooting the code for each module. This does not clear the learned values in the KAM. By resetting the KAM the stored values would then be cleared back to their defaults.
Should I do a Kam reset?
It has been advised that you should do a reset just before you get to the track or at the track. As far as we know it can’t be reset any other way except disconnecting the battery and through the tuning device.
Does a bully dog tuner have to stay plugged in?
After programming is complete, the unit can be left plugged in and used as a monitor while driving or un-plugged and put away for future changes. You do not need to leave it plugged in to keep the vehicle tuned.
