The process to start a student organization involves three steps.
- Attend a New Student Organization Workshop to learn more about the process of becoming recognized.

BSU serves as a liaison between students of African descent and other minorities and the campus. BSU engages the community in efforts to promote cultural diversity and peaceful coexistence of multicultural groups.

Why are there black student unions?
Black student unions strive to unify Black students on college campuses. These organizations began in the 1960s to combat racial discrimination. They’ve also addressed police brutality and campus safety for students of color. In the future, Black student unions can continue to bring changes to higher education.
Who started the first Black Student Union?
Linda Ishem, Lisa Rankin Faircloth, Jamie McGee and Chana Lawson. Black Student Unions took root on college campuses across the country in the mid to late 1960s. These student organizations provided connection but they were also a potent force in the push to reform higher education.
Why are there no sorority houses at Ball State?
Ball State University partners with Greek alumni to provide houses that are safe, attractive, and conducive to learning. Many fraternity members have the opportunity to live in fraternity homes near campus. At this time, there are no official sorority houses off-campus.
