What are those little white dots growing on my aquarium glass?
Often referred to as Itch or Ick, White spot is caused by the Ichyophirius parasite. Parasites are naturally present in aquariums and will be happily controlled by the immune system of your fish in small numbers.
What do parasites look like in a fish tank?
Parasitic or harmful worms will not be visible on the gravel or the glass of the aquarium. Noticing small white worms the size of a few millimeters crawling along the glass are either flat or roundworms. Flat appearances are planaria (flatworms) and the more thin and wiggly ones are nematodes (roundworms).
How do you remove white stuff from aquarium glass?
The white build-up is caused by calcium deposits or minerals found in water. You can use vinegar to remove the build-up. If you don’t have vinegar, you could also use lemon juice, although vinegar works best. Just put some on a clean cloth and rub over the calcium deposit.
What do water mites look like?
Several species of Water Mites live in vernal pools. The most obvious one looks like a fat spider with a bright red, round body. It has eight small legs attached near the front end of its body. You can find the adult swimming on the surface of the pools, or scrambling around eating plants underwater.

How did worms get in my fish tank?
So even if they eat everything you put in the tank, any food their body doesn’t use immediately, just passes through as waste. Excess fish waste is a great food source for detritus worms, and before you know it, a few worms turns into hundreds or thousands. Cutting down on excess food helps starve out worms.
