How quickly does Aldara cream work?
It usually takes 8-10 weeks for your warts to disappear, but warts may clear as early as 4 weeks. If your warts reappear, talk to your doctor. If your skin reacts badly to Aldara, your doctor may recommend that you stop treatment for a few days.
What does Aldara cream treat?
Imiquimod cream is a cancer treatment and is also known by its brand name, Aldara. It is a treatment for: basal cell skin cancer (BCC) a skin condition called actinic (solar) keratosis.
How do you know if Aldara cream is working?
You may have redness, swelling, burning, itching, and tenderness. As the skin starts to heal, you will see scabs and flaking. These reactions indicate that the medicine is working.
Can Aldara be used on the face?
Dosage for Aldara Aldara Cream should be applied 2 times per week for a full 16 weeks to a defined treatment area on the face or scalp (but not both concurrently). Before applying the cream, the patient should wash hands and the treatment area with mild soap and water and allow the area to dry thoroughly.
Can I use Aldara cream every day?
Apply sufficient Aldara cream to cover the treatment area and 1 cm (about ½ an inch) around the treatment area each day for 5 consecutive days each week for 6 weeks. For example, apply the cream from Monday to Friday.
Can Aldara cure HPV?
Aldara can be applied until the genital warts are gone (for up to a maximum of 16 consecutive weeks). New warts may develop during treatment, as Aldara is not a cure for the virus that causes warts, and only treats current warts. Local reactions and irritation are common during Aldara treatment.
Does Aldara cause more warts?
New warts may develop while you are using the cream. Imiquimod will also not keep you from spreading genital warts to other people. Do not use cosmetics or any other skin care products on the treated areas, unless directed to do so by your doctor.
