Are LMMS samples copyrighted?
You actually only have copyright ‘issues’ if you reuse or redistribute parts OF LMMS. (code / samples / demos) That is not allowed!
Are LMMS samples free?
If you mean you have used the same SAMPLES that were used then you’re o.k. because they are all LMMS royalty free samples.
Can I sell music made with LMMS?
You can do whatever you want with derivative works, just don’t relicense anything from lmms samples library as your own! Any and All relicensing is illegal!
Can I use LMMS commercially?
LMMS is free for commercial use, that means that everything I create in LMMS is my own work and I can do with it whatever I want, even sell it or share on Spotify, and I don’t have to write under it that it was created in LMMS (but of course it will be nice to write it 😀 ) 2.
Is Reaper better than LMMS?
Reaper is another feature-rich DAW that is popular partly due to its low price tag (for non-professional use). Reaper has more bells and whistles than LMMS but my impression is that LMMS is improving with each update — so the two DAWs might even compete in the future. LMMS is not meant to be a ‘competing’ DAW.
Can LMMS be used professionally?
No well known composers use it, but “professional” is subjective. I’ve used LMMS for paid project (some children’s books) which would be by definition “professional”. The best tracks we’re aware of are on our Best Of albums as well as a few tracks that never made it (most on soundcloud).
