Is arenavirus DNA or RNA?
An arenavirus is a bisegmented ambisense RNA virus that is a member of the family Arenaviridae. These viruses infect rodents and occasionally humans. A class of novel, highly divergent arenaviruses, properly known as reptarenaviruses, have also been discovered which infect snakes to produce inclusion body disease.
How do you get arenavirus?
People become infected by breathing in the virus after rodent urine, droppings, or nesting materials are stirred up, such as during cleaning. People can also get infected by touching their face after touching the virus, through the bites or scratches of infected rodents, and by eating contaminated food.
