The Black Diamond airNET was designed in collaboration with Adam Ondra for him to use in the 2020 Olympics. While the Olympics are in limbo, the harness remains and is one that we love for projecting sport routes and running fitness laps in the gym.
How long is a climbing harness good?
Even if your harness has been properly stored and/or used and it shows no visible damage, you should retire it if it is more than seven years old. If you’re a climbing professional such as a mountain guide, or you climb full-time, you should retire your harness as early as one year after its first use.
Can climbing harnesses break?
Your harness is one piece of climbing gear that you absolutely don’t want to fail. Cams and bolts can break, but it’s still possible to survive a fall depending on what backups you have underneath you.
How long does a Petzl battery last?
Lithium Ion Petzl batteries are guaranteed for one year for 300 charge cycles. They can be recharged 300 times (after 300 charge/discharge cycles, they have still about 70% of initial capacity). Lithium Ion batteries lose 10% of their capacity per year, they are used or not, regardless of the number of cycles.
How long do Petzl harnesses last?
For plastic or textile products, the maximum lifetime is ten years from the date of manufacture (See: How can I find out the age of my Petzl PPE?.) The lifespan of metal products is not limited. Warning: An unusual event may require you to retire a product after only one use.

Is the corax comfortable for hanging?
The Corax is not a super comfortable harness to hang in for extended amounts of time, but neither was any harness we tested. In fact, it would have been more accurate if we had called this metric “least uncomfortable for hanging”.
How many gear loops does the corax have?
The Corax has the standard four gear loops, two on each side, with the front ones providing rigidity that makes clipping and unclipping easier. Compared to most harnesses, the gear carrying capacity is quite large. It also has an easy to clip rear haul loop.
What is the difference between the corax size 1 and 2?
My waist is 40 and my wife’s is 30, and the CORAX in Size 2 fits both of us. Helpful? The most significant difference is in the waist circumference: 25.6 – 37.8 inches for size 1 and 29.9 – 42.1 inches for size 2.
