Which way do pickups face?
Generally speaking, the direction the lead wires come out of the pickup has no bearing on guitar pickup phasing. You can rotate the pickup left or right (clockwise or counterclockwise) and it will not matter.

Over the years I’ve replaced them and all my humbucker pickups with WCR Fillmore sets, as I felt the ’57 Classics were kind of thin sounding. The Fillmores have a deep, full-throated sound with plenty of fat mids. Been thinking about experimenting with the ’57 Classics though.

there are some really great pickups out there being made by winders these days. the stock Gibson stuff (Classic 57’s, Burstbuckers, 59 Tributes, 498/490 combos etc) are middling to decent pickups….. but you can do SO much better for a little bit more cash. I found the 57 classics to be very generic and lifeless to my ears.

What do you think of the Roland 57 for bridge?
I used the standard 57 for both the neck and bridge, and both have been adjusted countless times in an effort to get the sound I want. The neck is great. Deep, full tone with a lot of bite.
