How do I view previous tax returns on TaxAct?
To access and/or download prior year returns:
- Sign in to the TaxAct account used to prepare the return.
- Click the My Taxes tile.
- Click the year you wish to download to expand the menu and see your return(s).
- Choose your return (to save your return on your computer, click Download).
Why can’t I log into my TaxAct account?
If you’ve successfully updated your password and are still having difficulty logging in, check that the caps lock or numbers lock is on or off appropriately. You can also check your auto-fill or auto-complete settings, password management settings, or security software interference.

Does TaxAct save previous tax returns?
NOTE: TaxAct® does not provide archived copies of returns filed through the TaxAct Desktop or TaxAct Professional Editions. If you no longer have access to your saved return file, you can receive a copy of a successfully filed return from the IRS by calling 800-829-1040.
Can I view old tax returns online?

How do I get a copy of my taxes from TaxAct?
Copies of tax returns from year 2016 to present are available through your TaxAct online program. If you need a copy for a return prior to 2016, contact the IRS at 1.800. 829.1040. You’ll need to know the tax year, username, and password used when you registered the account.

3 years
Keep records for 3 years from the date you filed your original return or 2 years from the date you paid the tax, whichever is later, if you file a claim for credit or refund after you file your return. Keep records for 7 years if you file a claim for a loss from worthless securities or bad debt deduction.

- From within your TaxAct return (Online or Desktop) click Federal.
- Click Summary under Federal.
- Scroll down and click the Preview Form 1040 button.
- Click the Preview button to view a PDF of the Form 1040.
How do I reset my TaxAct password?
To reset your password:
- Click the Forgot Password link.
- Enter the Username.
- Click Continue.
- Answer the Secret Question.
- Click on Continue.
- Enter a New Password and enter the Confirm Password.
- Click on the Send Reset Email button.
- You will then need to check your email to validate the new Password.
