Is it OK to learn piano with Synthesia?
While Synthesia shows you which keys to press and for low long, Synthesia cannot teach you how to play the piano nor how to read music. It cannot teach you important things like sitting posture, hand position, the finger/wrist/arm movements, nor how to play musically with phrasing, articulation, dynamics, or rubato.
Should I use Synthesia?
Synthesia is another (great and fun) tool to help beginners master many aspects of music, most especially playing music. It is not explicitly designed to teach you theory, but there are Synthesia scores and midi files that help you learn that. Same for other aspects of music education.
How do you get songs for Synthesia?
Single click entries in the folder list to navigate. Once you find and navigate inside your desired folder, it should show the number of songs found at the bottom of the window. Click the Add button in the top-right corner. That’s it!

Synthesia lowers the barrier to entry for beginners. You can get started immediately without knowing how to read sheet music. Playing songs right away provides great motivation to stick with the piano where you can learn traditional sheet music notation over time as you go along, should you choose to.
Can you make your own songs on Synthesia?
Synthesia works with any MIDI or MusicXML file, but if you follow a couple quick and easy steps, you’ll be able to take advantage of a few extra features to really make your songs shine!
Is flowkey better than Yousician?
Flowkey is the overall better option if you are looking to learn how to play the piano in a fun and simplistic way while learning new songs. Yousician closely resembles a video game, but it generally requires the user to figure more things out on their own.
