- Compound chocolate. Compound chocolate is a low-cost alternative to real chocolate and is made from a combination of ingredients like cocoa, sweeteners, and vegetable oil.

- Soybeans and sugar.
- Marshmallows.
Are Wilton Candy Melts chocolate?
Since they do not contain any cocoa, Candy Melts are not chocolate. However, Wilton does make chocolate-flavored Candy Melts, available in a Light and Dark variety.
How do you make Candy Melts?
To melt in the microwave, place your candy in a microwave-safe container or disposable decorating bag and microwave at 50% power or defrost setting for 1 minute. Stir thoroughly in container or knead bag. Return to the microwave, stirring or kneading at 30-second intervals until candy is mostly melted.
Can I use regular chocolate instead of Candy Melts?
It’s less expensive. They don’t taste the difference. But we do! So pick up a white chocolate bar or two (we like Lindt (photo #2) and Green & Black’s), melt, and stir in drops of green food color instead.
