This vaccine is given to provide protection (immunity) against diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), and pertussis (whooping cough) in children between 6 weeks and 7 years old. Vaccination is the best way to protect against these life-threatening diseases.

Administer the fourth dose of DTaP no earlier than 6 months after the third dose. However, you do not need to repeat the fourth dose if it was administered at least four months after the third dose.
