Do you have to book for Hempsted tip?
Everyone visiting the Household Recycling Centres are required to pre-book their visit. This is to minimise queues and congestion on site and to help keep everybody safe.

Everyone visiting the Household Recycling centres are required to prebook their visit in order to gain access to these sites. Social distancing will be required on site, and in order to minimise queues and waiting times the number of booking slots available will be limited.

Black bin – non-recyclable rubbish. Your black bin is for waste which cannot be recycled (red lid bin) or composted (green lid bin) in your other bins.

What can you take there? You can bring other household waste to the centres (e.g. mattresses, sofas, garden furniture etc) but they are unable to recycle it at present.
Will a scrap man take a fridge?
the answer is yes! However they cannot be scrapped at scrap yards, this is due to a combination of the gasses/expanded foam insulation & plastics in them, it simply costs more to dispose of those than scrap metal value of the metal content.
What is each Colour bin for?
your blue bin is for recyclable waste. your brown bin is for garden waste and food waste. your green or grey bin is for non-recyclable waste.
What is red bin?
According to Saahas, the red bin will be used to segregate domestic hazardous waste, which consists of bio-medical waste like cotton bandage or anything with human fluids. In the present scenario, it’s where you can dispose of used masks.
