Why does my garden strimmer keep cutting out?
If your fuel filter is good but you’re still having issues starting or keeping your strimmer running, it’s time to check the air filter. This process is much like the fuel filter, and like the fuel filter, the air filter is meant to provide clean air to the engine while filtering out as many contaminants as possible.
What can go wrong with a strimmer?
Common Reasons Why a String Trimmer Won’t Start
- Stale fuel.
- A dirty or cracked spark plug.
- Faulty magneto coil.
- Improper venting of the cap on the gas tank.
- A blocked fuel filter.
- A very dirty air filter.
- Clogging of the carburetor from gum deposits due to gas being left in the tank over winter.
Why does my strimmer line keep unraveling?
If this cap is broken or worn out over time, it can malfunction, causing too much line to feed out when you bump it. Depending on its damage, it could be getting hung up as it tries to return, allowing the line to continuously advance. To replace it, simply remove and replace the bump cap with a new one.
Why does my petrol strimmer loses power?
Over time the air filter will need to be replaced as it becomes clogged with small particles and debris, starving the engine of air, causing a loss in power. Locate the air filter cover on top of the carburetor and remove it. It may be attached by screws or just a tab. Once off, remove filter, replace, and re-assemble.
Why does the line on my line trimmer keep breaking?
Usually this is the result of the cutting head being taken too close to objects, e.g. garden stones, paving edges, walls etc. The cutting line must be allowed to rotate freely and the correct diameter and type of line should be used.
Why does my strimmer wire keep going back in?
@weedeater, EMMA, The stringers head may not have the string wrapped properly onto it. Remove all the string and replace the nylon line with appropriate/compatible line and try. If this does not do the trick disassemble the string spool head and check for dirt/debri(clean head) check for damage, rethread and try.
Why does my petrol strimmer cuts out when revved?
An inaccurate mixture of oil and gas can make the spark plug oily. Check for corrosion, breakage, deposits or melted parts. If you notice any of these negative symptoms, it’s time to replace the plug. A filter maintains a clean airflow inside the engine and stops small particles to enter and damage its internal parts.
Why does my 2 stroke keep cutting out?
If the cap becomes loose or the screw holding it in place has become loose it can cause a gap. If this happens there’ll be excess fuel spilling out and also air will be drawn into the carburettor where there should be just fuel. The same effect occurs with a damaged cap.
Why does my 2 stroke only run on choke?
If a motorcycle or ATV only runs with the choke on, it’s because the richer “choke on” mixture is actually closer to the engine’s normal operating fuel mixture than the leaner “choke off” mixture. So when the choke is turned off, the engine gets too little fuel and too much air for it to run and it stalls.
