Can you use MSR fuel with Primus stove?

Can I use Coleman fuel for my Primus stove?
Any fuel canister with an “EN417” nozzle will work with JetBoil stoves. This is a common standard that includes isobutane/propane fuel canisters from MSR, Primus, GasOne, and Snowpeak. You can also use butane/propane mixtures, such as Coleman. Basically, as long as the canister fits, it will work.
Can you use Coleman propane for the Primus stove?
Yes, it has a small screw on the side if you need to adjust the pressure at all, works fine for me without adjusting though. Looks like the adapter is not available on ebay anymore.
What fuel canisters are compatible with MSR?
MSR recommends only using MSR IsoPro™ fuel with our stoves—because our stoves are specifically designed and tuned for it and thus will perform better. However, if MSR fuel is not available, any canister with an 80% isobutane / 20% propane fuel mix and certified to EN 417 should work.
Are gas canisters interchangeable?
Most camping stoves are just compatible with screw-on canisters and some are just compatible with Easy-Clic canisters. However, there are a couple of special stoves that will allow you to use either type of canister: screw-on and Easy-Clic.
Can I use butane propane mix instead of butane?
As it turns out, a lot of stoves actually run on a blend of propane and butane. Propane can burn at MUCH lower temperatures than butane (because of its higher vapor pressure). Just because your stove takes a fuel blend doesn’t mean it can be used with pure propane or butane.
Do gas canisters go out of date?
In general, sealed, butane canisters do not go bad; in fact, the consensus is that they will last for up to ten years or sometimes even more. Opened butane canisters that sit unused will still be flammable and work fine in your camping stove, but the quality of the gas may deteriorate over time.
