How high should pickups be on Telecaster?
Using a 6″ (150 mm) ruler, measure the distance from the bottom of the first and sixth strings to the top of the pole piece….PICKUPS.

How high should I set my pickups?
We recommend between somewhere close to 5/64″ on the bridge pickup, and about 4/64″ on the neck. Keep in mind, these are measurements on the Low-E side. On the High-E, we might suggest you move it just a tad closer (say 1/64″ on each pickup). Adjusting height is easy.
How much action is too high?
But how do you know if the action is too high? What is this? There are two ways to tell if the action on your guitar is too high: intonation and feel. If your guitar’s intonation is out or the guitar feels awkward to play compared to other guitars, the action may be too high.
