Dogs can’t go in the day use area but are allowed in the camping area. We camped at Steckel Park in a Travel Trailer. Tip for Other Campers: There is a lot of nice hiking in the national forest lands nearby.

Faria Beach is located at the north end of the private gated Faria Beach Colony in Ventura County. The county provides a small campground called Faria Beach Park at this location. It’s open to RV and tent campers and only available on a first come, first serve basis (no reservations).

Why is Lake Piru whirlpools?
Whirlpools form when two opposing currents meet, causing water to rotate (like stirring liquid in a glass). This can happen when heavy winds cause water to travel in different directions. As the water circles, it gets funneled into a small cavity in the center, creating a vortex.
Does Faria campground have fire pits?
There’s a concession stand at Faria Beach. Campsites have access to fire pits and picnic tables.

Steckle Park is also home to an aviary. Built about a hundred years ago, the aviary was almost shut down a few years ago. Due to the public outcry and a wave of public support ( in the form of contributions and volunteer labor) the aviary was rebuilt and renovated.
