What are Vero 76 cells?
VERO 76 was derived in 1968 by K.M. Johnson and brought to Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Atlanta, GA. It is a derivative of the original VERO. When infected with hemorrhagic fever viruses [Machupo (Bolivian), Junin (Argentinian), Lassa (African)], Marburg or Ebola viruses, these cells exhibited cytopathic effects.
