What is Giygas supposed to be?
Itoi described Giygas as something that people cannot make sense of, but also as a living being who deserves love. He described the film scene as a combination of atrocity and eroticism, and that is what his lines are in the end.

The face that appears in the Devil’s Machine is Ness as a fetus calling out to the older Ness to save him. Giygas is attempting to corrupt Ness in the womb in order to remove him as the one destined to defeat him (foretold by the Apple of Enlightenment).

Why does Ness look like Ninten?
It appears Ness’s resemblance to Ninten was left as ambiguous by Shigesato Itoi intentionally as he intended for players to decide if they’re the same character or different, he seems to have even suggested for players to think of them as the same.
