What is 1N4148 zener diode?
The 1N4148 is a standard silicon switching signal diode. It is one of the most popular and long-lived switching diodes because of its dependable specifications and low cost. Its name follows the JEDEC nomenclature.
What is the voltage of 4148 Zener diode?
1N4148 Zener Diode
| Brand | NXP / Philips / Goodark / Nexperia |

Are all 1N4148 the same?
1N4148 is considered as advanced version of 1N914 but technically there is not much difference. Only difference is that 1n4148 has low leakage current than 1n914, but even for some manufacturers the leakage current is same for both the diodes.
Is 1N914 a zener diode?
The 1N914 is a small signal diode which can handle low voltage and low current. The diode can switch at high speed and hence normal used in switching applications and not in rectifier applications….Pin Configuration.
| Pin No. | Pin Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | Cathode | Current always Exits through Cathode |
How do you identify a zener diode?
The testing of Zener diodes is the same as the regular diodes. The multimeter is placed in the diode setting and connected to the diode. The forward biased voltage of the diode is found by connecting the positive of the multimeter to the diode’s anode. This is the side on the Zener diode that is not marked.
What is a fast switching diode?
The switching diode has the characteristics of fast switching speed, small size, long life, and high reliability. It is widely used in switching circuits, detection circuits, high-frequency and pulse rectification circuits, and automatic control circuits of electronic equipment.
What is a 1N914 diode used for?
1N914 diodes are used in power conversion and rectifiers can be made with these diodes and converts AC to DC to provide better performance. These diodes protect extremely responsive electronic devices from overvoltage. In standard situations, these types of diodes are connected in reverse bias & they don’t conduct.
Do zener diodes fail?
Normally zener diodes fail by going short circuit, open circuit or getting really leaky. Generally is they have a blue band or a green one, they probably are ISS1 diodes, which are pretty much a 1N4148 or 1N914 in most cases.
Can we use zener diode as a switch?
Zener diodes are used for voltage regulation, as reference elements, surge suppressors, and in switching applications and clipper circuits. The load voltage equals breakdown voltage VZ of the diode. The series resistor limits the current through the diode and drops the excess voltage when the diode is conducting.
