Too often we see players running onto the court and the first practice shot they take is a 3-pointer. Fundamental shooters are taught to practice inside to out. Players miss layups because, as the easiest shot in basketball, they are taken for granted and there is not enough focus on practicing them.

Layups can be one of the hardest parts of basketball, but if you train properly, you’ll be able to make them more and more often. Practice both overhand and underhand layups. For overhand layups, run into the shot and jump off 1 foot.
