Can you surf on a nipper board?

What is Nipper board?
Nipper boards resemble small racing mals with four straps. They’re designed for young Surf Live Saving participants and are built to SLSA standard specifications. Children up to 10 years old generally use a foam Nipper board (called a foamie), and children over 10 use a fibreglass board.

What is a racing mal?
A racing mal is a type of paddleboard that is propelled using the arms while lying flat or kneeling. Boards are normally ten feet and six inches in length. The volume varies depending on the weight of the rider, generally within a 10 kg range. For example, a particular board might be suitable for a 75-85 kg rider.
How long are nipper boards?

Nipper boards on the other hand have official rulings to be adhered to i.e. the length has to be 6’6′, and the width or widest point, no less than 18′.

How old can you start nippers?

How old does my child have to be to join nippers? A child may join nippers as soon as they turn five years of age. A child who reaches five years of age after 30 September may join nippers at that time; however, this child will be required to stay in the U6 nippers age group again the following season.
Is Mini Mal good for beginners?
The Mini Mal surfboard or “Mid-length” is a great universal board that is well suited to beginners. It is a smaller version of a Longboard in a more forgiving and comfortable size range. Typically Mini Mals will range in size from 7 to 8ft in length.
