Chemi-Pure Elite is an excellent product. I have never had tank water as clear as I do now. The tank is free of algae. And if each bag lasts for three months, it also makes it a very economical chemical media.

It doesn’t remove ammonia, nitrite or nitrate. It binds organics that may produce those as they break down, but fish excrete a lot of ammonia directly, so there’s no concern that you will negatively impact the tanks ability to deal with ammonia by using Purigen.
