How does Steinberg eLicenser work?
The USB-eLicenser is a small USB key (dongle, formerly Steinberg Key) on which music software licenses by different manufacturers can be stored. For licenses on a USB-eLicenser are independent of a specific computer, the corresponding software can be used on any computer to which the USB-eLicenser is connected.
What is Steinberg soft eLicenser?
The Soft-eLicenser is a file on the hard disk, functioning as a virtual license container. Each Soft-eLicenser has a unique 2 x 10-digit serial number, which is needed to register the software/license with a MySteinberg account and also to request activation codes (licenses).
How do I activate eLicenser?
Switch to the eLicenser Control Center on your computer and click and click on the green ‘Enter Activation Code’ button. Enter or paste* the new activation code. Click on [Continue] and finally on [Download license], to complete the activation.
Does Cubase still need a dongle?
Yes, of course you still need the dongle, or soft eLicenser for those. Only Cubase and Dorico use the new licensing system so far.
How do I update my Steinberg eLicenser?
Steinberg Licensing: Upgrades from eLicenser-based products
- Open the Steinberg Download Assistant.
- Enter the Download Access Code you have received with the update/upgrade order at the top left.
- A dialog box opens, prompting you to activate the corresponding license.
- Click on the [Activate] button.
How do I get my Steinberg activation code?
Newly purchased Steinberg software always comes with an Activation Code – online by email or inside the product box. The corresponding license can be downloaded to activate an installation by entering the Activation Code in the eLicenser Control Center. In general, Activation Codes can only be used once.
Can I use Cubase without USB-eLicenser?
With the new Steinberg Licensing system, you’ll be able to activate a single-user license on two computers (your studio machine and laptop, for example) and you’ll no longer need a USB dongle. Just sign in, activate online and you’re away.
Can I use Cubase 12 on 2 computers?
You are allowed to install our products on multiple computers, but you can only activate a product on three computers at any one time. A single-user license is intended for a single person, and it is not permitted to use the software simultaneously on three computers.
Does eLicenser come Cubase?
With the full versions of the Cubase, Nuendo and WaveLab host applications, the USB-eLicenser is usually included in the product package.
How do you make a soft eLicenser?
Select “Registration” from the top menu, choose the 20-digit Soft-eLicenser number and click on “Copy Serial Number”. If you registered the previous license it will auto fill your previous registered activation code in the old activation code field.
