Does Berkey sport filter viruses?
The Sport Berkey® Bottle uses the same filtration medium as the larger Black Berkey® Purification Elements used in free-standing Berkey® gravity-fed systems. With no pumping required, the bottle’s filter reduces microorganisms by greater than 99.9% and reduces viruses by greater than 97%.
How long does a Berkey water bottle filter last?
While each Black Berkey purification element will filter up to 3,000 gallons of water before you will need to replace the filter, a single PF-2 fluoride and arsenic filter will need to be replaced after it has filtered 500 gallons of water or after one year of use, whichever comes first.

How do you clean a Berkey water bottle?
With the filter removed, flush the bottle with one of the following: • 1/4tsp non-scented/non-enhanced* chlorine bleach per one half gallon of water • 50/50 mixture of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and water. Once the bottle has been flushed, rinse with water. Allow all parts to dry thoroughly.
Can you put ice in Berkey?
1. Don’t put ice or snow directly into the upper chamber. Allow it to melt first. The Black Berkey Filters can become damaged and quit working if frozen.
Can you put a Berkey in the fridge?
The Berkey PF-2™ filters can be stored in a refrigerator, short term; but definitely don’t store them in a freezer. To do this, remove the filters from the system, place them into a sealable sandwich bag or container and place the filters in the refrigerator towards the front to ensure that they do not freeze.
