Is Zada Hedron grinder good?

Zada, Hedron Grinder is stupid good. For those unfamiliar with her, she seems innocent enough at first glance: she’s an elk-sized 3/3 for four mana with a neat triggered ability that, whenever you cast an instant/sorcery spell that only targets her, you copy it targeting every other creature you control.

How does Zada Hedron grinder work?

Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell that targets only Zada, Hedron Grinder, copy that spell for each other creature you control that the spell could target. Each copy targets a different one of those creatures. Flavor Text: “A hedron holds magic for a thousand years—or less, if need be.”

How do double-faced cards work?

A double-faced card has two faces. It has no regular Magic back. Its front face, which is marked with a sun symbol and has a mana cost, is the default. A double-faced card always enters the battlefield with its front face up.

Can you play either side of a double-faced card?

Modal double-faced cards can be played with either of their two faces up and can’t transform. See rule 712, “Double-Faced Cards.” One of two kinds of double-faced cards. Transforming double-faced cards default to their front faces but can transform to their back faces in some way.

Does fall of the hammer work with Zada?

Fall of the Hammer: Target creature you control deals damage equal to its power to another target creature. Since there are two instances of the word “target” (and Zada can’t be both), Zada is not the only target. Soul’s Fire can’t let a creature hit itself; “another target creature.” Tail Slash will though.

Does Zada cast the copies?

The original spell will be on the stack beneath those copies and will resolve last. 2018-03-16: The copies that the ability creates are created on the stack, so they’re not cast. Abilities that trigger when a player casts a spell (like Zada’s ability itself) won’t trigger….Zada, Hedron Grinder.

How does Hagra mauling work?

It reduces the cost even if some opponents control basic lands, as long as one controls no basic lands. The opponent who controls no basic lands doesn’t have to be the controller of the target creature for Hagra Mauling’s cost to be reduced.

Do double-faced cards count as lands?

A player playing a modal double-faced card as a land chooses one of its faces that’s a land before putting it onto the battlefield. It enters the battlefield with that face up. See rule 305, “Lands.”

Does Soul’s Fire work with Zada?

I just checked Gatherer. Yeah, I noted that after the fact. Tail slash doesn’t work, because “target creature you don’t control.” Soul’s Fire will actually work; Target Zada with both options, and then change the second target for the copies to the player.

Can you copy a spell with storm?

Storm is a keyword ability that creates a copy of the spell when it’s cast, for each spell cast before it in the current turn. It can become extremely powerful in decks that can arrange for many cheap spells to be cast in a turn.

How does glasspool mimic work?

If the chosen creature is copying something else (for example, if the chosen creature is another Glasspool Mimic), then Glasspool Mimic enters the battlefield as whatever the chosen creature copied. If another creature becomes a copy of Glasspool Mimic, that creature is also a Shapeshifter Rogue.

How does malakir rebirth work?

Malakir Rebirth’s effect works only once. If the targeted creature dies and is then returned to the battlefield, it’s considered to be a new creature. If that new creature dies, it won’t come back. There is a single triangle icon in the top left corner of the front face.
