Can a nickel plated gun be blued?
Nickel plating can only be done on clean, raw, active metal; you can’t do it on top of bluing.

Can I Cerakote chrome?
A quality hard chrome finish is a perfect surface for Cerakote to be applied over the top of.
Will vinegar harm nickel plating?
Do not use straight vinegar. It is often too abrasive to expose to thin nickel coatings for extended periods. Nickel plating is easily damaged by acid, so vinegar cleaning should be done sparingly on stubborn stains.
Can you use Brasso on nickel?
Brasso, Never Dull and other ammonia type polish for brass must have limitations on nickel.
Is gun bluing durable?
All blued parts still require oiling to prevent rust. Bluing, being a chemical conversion coating, is not as robust against wear and corrosion resistance as plated coatings, and is typically no thicker than 2.5 micrometres (0.0001 inches).
Is nickel finish shiny?

How hard is it to nickel Plate?
This material has a hardness of 63 on the Rockwell C scale as plated. If wear resistance is your priority, you may choose to go with hard chrome. However, both options can protect your equipment and parts from wear.
