How does Reiki work?
Reiki therapy is based on an Eastern belief that vital energy flows through your body. The idea is that a Reiki practitioner uses gentle touch — or places their hands just above your body — to help guide this energy in a way that promotes balance and healing.
What religion does Reiki come from?

How do you do Reiki?
Hand Positions
- Hand Position 1: Begin your reiki self-treatment by gently placing your hands together in a prayer position in the middle of your chest, just below your chin.
- Hand Position 2: Gently place both hands on top of the head.
- Hand Position 3: Gently place both hands over your eyes.
Is Reiki a spiritual belief?
Reiki is a type of CAM associated with spiritual practices which according to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) conflicts with Christian beliefs (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops 2009a).
What should I expect from my first Reiki session?
Sometimes the experience of Reiki is dramatic, while for other people, the first session in particular may be uneventful, although they feel somehow better afterward. The most common experience is an almost immediate release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation.
What is a Reiki Reiki session?
Reiki is usually performed on a client who is fully reclined comfortably on a massage table. It also may be performed on a client who is semi-reclined on a massage chair or recliner. If you have mobility or pain issues please communicate these to your Practitioner so they may make you your most comfortable for the session.

Do not expect a diagnosis, as that is not part of Reiki. Some practitioners may make common sense suggestions for after-care, such as drinking water and following your body’s needs. Although people typically leave a Reiki session feeling refreshed, sometimes they notice feeling more tired in the evening than usual.
What does Reiki feel like?
The sensations or lack of are not a barometer of the Reiki, they are just how your particular body senses energy. You may feel peace and calm in your mind or physically in general.
