Is kite paper the same as wax paper?
Glassen paper has a ‘waxey’ feeling and is often mistakenly referred to as Wax paper. It is also known as Kite Paper, due to its strength and versatility. Interestingly, it is made without wax, and the paper properties are quite different to wax paper.

How do you make a Waldorf star with kite paper?
A Wintry Waldorf Window Star
- Start with eight squares of kite paper. For a smaller star, cut kite paper into four equal squares.
- Fold the kite paper in half into a rectangle.
- Fold in half again into a skinnier rectangle.
- Unfold and fold top corner in to meet the center. Repeat with the opposite corner.
Are kite paper and tissue paper the same?

Tissue paper or origami paper can also be used to make Waldorf window stars, but we do not recommend it. Those types of paper can fade and lose their color in direct sunlight, while kite paper will retain its color, and, will not fade even in direct sunlight.

Wax paper and tissue paper are translucent and light that transmits through them is scattered and fuzzy. Opaque objects absorb or reflect all of the light and do not allow any light to pass through them. Brick, stone, and metals are opaque.
