Which is better WDS or repeater?
The repeater establishes a common, ordinary wireless client connection over B/G/N to the remote AP, while simultaneously establishing its own AP using those same protocols. It couldn’t be simpler. Ironically, WDS (when compatible) is generally considered the superior solution.
What is WDS and how it works?
Windows Deployment Services is a server role that gives administrators the ability to deploy Windows operating systems remotely. WDS can be used for network-based installations to set up new computers so administrators do not have to directly install each operating system (OS).
What is the difference between AP mode and Repeater mode?

How do I use a WDS router?
To setup WDS with TP-Link wireless routers, the following steps are required:
- Go to Wireless -> Wireless Settings. Check Enable WDS (Enable WDS bridging).
- The SSID on the top of the page is the local wireless network name of this router. You can name whatever you like.
- Click Search/Survey.

Does WDS slow down WiFi?
This drawback and relaying the packets (the parrot!) will slow down the network considerably. The speed will halve for each hop. If the packet needs three hops to arrive at is destination, the speed will be just ⅛ of the nominal speed. Another problem with WDS is encryption.
