Do I have to get Medicare at 65 if I have TRICARE?
You must have Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B to keep your TRICARE benefit, or you must have proof you aren’t eligible for premium-free Medicare Part A. Be sure to sign up for Medicare Part A and Part B no later than two months before the month you turn age 65 to avoid a break in coverage.
Do I have to enroll in Medicare if I have TRICARE?
When you use TRICARE For Life, you don’t pay any enrollment fees, but you must have Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B. Medicare Part A is paid from payroll taxes while you are working.
Do all veterans qualify for TRICARE?
Yes, since 1995, all VA health care facilities have participated as TRICARE Network Providers. VA can provide care for Active Duty Service Members, military retirees, & family members under their TRICARE benefit – on a space available basis.
Do you need all 4 parts of Medicare for TRICARE for Life?

Do I need a Medicare supplement if I have VA benefits?
If you have VA benefits, you do not have to enroll in Medicare in order to keep your VA benefits. That being said, the Veterans Administration actually recommends veterans enroll in Medicare when they become eligible.
Do you need Medicare Part D if you have TRICARE for Life?
Medicare Part D Not Required You don’t need to enroll in a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan to keep your TRICARE benefits. For most TRICARE beneficiaries, there is almost NO advantage to enrolling in a Medicare prescription drug plan.
Can you have Medicare and TRICARE at the same time?

Do I need Medicare Part B if I have TRICARE Prime?
To ensure TRICARE coverage is effective when your group health plan coverage ends, you need to sign up for Medicare Part B before your group health plan coverage ends. TRICARE won’t act as secondary payer to your employer-sponsored health plan until you have Medicare Part B.
