If washed in a machine, the protective oils that act as a rain barrier will be stripped and the jacket will no longer be waterproof.

Can you use Nikwax on Barbour?

Yes, DRY!! I shall be buying again and highly recommend as THIS STUFF ACTUALLY WORKS!! I got this spray as a quick fix for reproofing small areas of my Barbour jackets. It is much easier and quicker to use requiring no melting, copious rubbing in and the use of hairdryer afterwards for smoothing.

Can you use dubbin on wax jacket?

Dubbin will not make it any worse, the traditional material was whale oil so beeswax-veg oil might work. As you say it won’t do any harm, it will look OK, and if it all goes wrong you can always throw it in the washing machine (yes, this works too if you reproof afterwards).
