What are stop logs used for?
Stoplogs are hydraulic engineering control elements that are used in floodgates to adjust the water level or discharge in a river, canal, or reservoir. Stoplogs are sometimes confused with flashboards, as both elements are used in bulkhead or crest gates.
What is a stop log structure?
They are used at a dam to block the water at one of the gates that control flow over the dam. This allows for maintenance of the respective gate. Stop logs are about 4 feet tall and 16-20 feet wide. They are stacked in channels until the stack is above the water line.
What is the difference between penstock and stop log?
Stoplog are of similar use to penstock / sluice gate however it does not come with actuation or handwheel operation. Stoplog are uses in application where the tank or channel are rarely down for maintenance unlike stoplog.
What is a stop gate?

What is scour valve?
Scour valves are located at low points or between valved sections of the pipeline. Their function is to allow periodic flushing of the lines to remove sediment and to allow the line to be drained for maintenance and repair work.
What is chute spillway?
A chute spillway is a common and basic design that transfers excess water from behind the dam down a smooth decline into the river below. These are usually designed following an ogee curve. Most often, they are lined on the bottom and sides with concrete to protect the dam and topography.
