How many lions are at London Zoo?
At ZSL London Zoo we have a pride of four amazing Asiatic lions, made up of one male and three females. Our three females are all sisters and were born here at the Zoo. Rubi is 9 years old and the twins, Indi and Heidi are 7 years old.

Why are there so few Asian lions in the wild?
In 2005 only 359 individual Asiatic Lions were found in the wild. Possible reasons for such small numbers include hunting for the hide, sport and their claws, poisoning and conflict with humans for attacking livestock, loss of habitat and threats by floods, fires and epidemics.
