How do you wash a Nomex suit?
Nomex should be washed separately from other types of garments to prevent the contamination of flammable fiber threads. Hatch gloves with Nomex construction should be hand-washed and air-dried right after. Regular household laundry detergents are suitable for washing Nomex garments.

How do I clean my Alpinestars race suit?
Use a Non soap based powder as this can leave a non fire resistant residue. Previously I had taken it to be dry cleaned & they wouldn’t take it. I put my Alpinestars in the washing machine on a 30 degree wash with no powder or anything the other week and it came out just fine.

If you want to try to remove fire retardant from fire retardant treated fabric, use soap or vinegar, but best is to not buy it in the first place.

Use a gentle laundry detergent with minimal acids or alkalis, avoid detergents based on soap or containing sodium silicate or metasilicate and do not use hard water. Can You Wash Nomex clothes?
You can wash Nomex clothes as you would normal clothes, but keep them away from clothes that lint and pill, and separate your garments so that darker colors do not bleed and discolor lighter-colored garments. Do not mix with other clothes if soiled with contaminants that you would not otherwise include in the wash.
Does Nomex fire-resistant material go bad?
Since Nomex fire-resistant material is designed built into the fabric you can worry less about losing the fire-retardant properties over time. Most suit manufacturers will recommend dry cleaning – assuming your dry cleaner is familiar with fire-retardant fabrics.
How do I Clean my FRC suit?
Dry cleaning isn’t always an option, so chemically treated FRC can be washed using conventional methods as well. You can machine wash separately on a delicate cycle in cold water with the suit right side out (not inside out).
