What is the difference between HYSYS and Unisim?
HYSYS & UNISIM have almost identical capabilities. HYSYS is older whereas UNISIM is comparatively new. HYSYS being older is used by many companies active in the engineering and design related to oil & gas.
What is Unisim?
Honeywell’s UniSim Design Suite is an intuitive Process Simulation and modeling platform that helps engineers create steady-state and dynamic models for plant design, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, business planning, and asset management.
What does HYSYS stand for?
An abbreviation for Hyprotech Systems, it is process-modelling software developed by AspenTech. It is used for steady-state and dynamic simulation of processes, process design, process performance monitoring, and process optimization across a wide range of industries and processes…. …
What is Hysys simulation?
Aspen HYSYS (or simply HYSYS) is a chemical process simulator currently developed by AspenTech used to mathematically model chemical processes, from unit operations to full chemical plants and refineries.
What is Aspen software?
ASPEN is a process simulation software package widely used in industry. Given a process design and an appropriate selection of thermodynamic models, ASPEN uses mathematical models to predict the performance of the process. This information can then be used in an iterative fashion to optimize the design.
What is the use of HYSYS?
Aspen HYSYS is the energy industry’s leading process simulation software that’s used by top oil and gas producers, refineries and engineering companies for process optimization in design and operations.
Why is HYSYS important?
HYSYS is used extensively in industry due to its steady-state and dynamic simulation, process design, performance modelling, and optimization. Lets get more technical: Given a process design and an appropriate selection of thermodynamic models, HYSYS uses mathematical models to predict the performance of the process.
What programming language does aspen use?
Aspen Plus can be connected to any programming language (Python, Java, C++, Excel Visual Basic and others) that has COM technology available ( Matlab has the actxserver function to handle COM technology).
How does HYSYS work?
Given a process design and an appropriate selection of thermodynamic models, HYSYS uses mathematical models to predict the performance of the process. Engineers will typically simulate this using the software in order to optimize the design and improve existing ones.
How do I compile Unisim library in modelsim?
- compile UNISIM libraries by runnin compxlib and following wizard.
- then in your modelsim, library pane add new library.
- after that add library from existing library and point to folder which contains compiled version of unisim, e.g. it is C:\Xilinx\10.1\ISE\vhdl\mti_senisim for me.
What is SuperPro designer?
SuperPro Designer® is a process simulator that facilitates the modeling, evaluation, and optimization of integrated processes. It was specifically developed for the simulation of bioprocess unit operations; thus, it can handle batch and continuous processing schemes .
What can HYSYS do?
HYSYS is able to perform many of the core calculations of chemical engineering, including those concerned with mass balance, energy balance, vapor-liquid equilibrium, heat transfer, mass transfer, chemical kinetics, fractionation, and pressure drop.
What is Aspen software used for?
What are the tools used in simulation?
Types of Simulation Tools
- Spreadsheets. Perhaps the simplest and most broadly used general purpose simulator is the spreadsheet.
- Discrete Event Simulators. These tools rely on a transaction-flow approach to modeling systems.
- Agent-Based Simulators.
- Continuous Simulators.
- Hybrid Simulators.

Is UniSIM (Honeywell) worth it?
UniSim (honeywell) vs HYSYS (Aspen Tech) will be the real question. I have worked with both, Aspen Plus and HYSYS, they are user friendly and they are in fact the leading process simulation software. UniSim is ok just to learn the basics on process engineering, it is pretty limited to fine chemistry imo.
What is UniSIM?
Unisim is actually a copy of HYSYS version 2006 if I’m not mistaken, Unisim born due to anti monopoly that is regulated in the united state.
Is Prosim better than HYSYS or UniSIM?
PROSIM is less known than either HYSYS or UNISIM but many consider it to be a better software for modeling amine treatment processes (removal of hydrogen sulfide and CO2 from natural gas) compared to HYSYS and UNISIM.
Is SimSci a good program to use?
I’ve used SimSci before but its more commonly know as Proii, pro two, and it’s a pretty good simulation program. While it’s not as diverse in terms of unit operation as HYSYS it does a pretty good job of simulating whatever it is you’re doing on there.
