Although anything truly goes at Ren Faires, if it’s your thing to dress up, do it big! There are a few different directions that Renaissance Festival costumes can go in, from gypsies to princesses to pirates to knights. Do a little research, pull up some photos, make it a day you will never forget!
Can you cosplay at the Renaissance Fair?
Time-traveling cosplayers are welcome at the outdoor gathering, and lovers of royal wear, and anime aficionados, and pirates on shore leave, and fairies, gnomes, and goblins, too.
Does Colorado Renaissance Festival allow backpacks?
Recreational devices such as drones, remote control toys are prohibited. Bicycles, skateboards, shoes with wheels, scooters and rollerblades are not permitted on the premises. Suitcases, backpacks (with or without wheels) larger than 24” long x 15” wide x 18” high are not permitted.

Can you bring water to the Colorado Renaissance Festival?
You are not permitted to bring in outside food or drink (consider the festival one huge restaurant), but water bottles are fine. We freeze ours, which provides cool refreshment all day. You can refill them at the several bathrooms with running water (not just port-a-potties!).

It’s totally not necessary to dress up at all. Also know that you can if you want to, and that you don’t have to go all out or be period-accurate. The most important thing is to be comfortable and dressed for the weather (which, since our faire runs in July, can be HOT).

To look authentic you need something upon your head. For women, you’ll want a headdress, wreath or bonnet. If you don’t have one, you can always buy one at the fair. For men, headwear includes muffin caps, flat caps, felt hats, and straw hats.

- Most leather-look sandals will work, but stay away from simple flip flops.
- Canvas slip-ons like TOMS or BOBS are a great option.
