Contest participation is not a requirement for admission, but we strongly encourage you to participate, as it is an asset to your application and can help in making Faculty scholarship decisions. We encourage you to check out the Euclid Mathematics Contest and/or Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest (CSMC).

To be eligible for a Faculty of Mathematics entrance scholarship, applicants to our Faculty must write at least one of the Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest (CSMC) or the Euclid Contest (writing both contests is encouraged), during the school year in which they are applying.

How do I prepare for the Euclid Math Contest?
Leave some time before the end of the competition to check all your solutions and answers, especially in problems involving a lot of calculations. Even if you can’t solve a problem, write down all the ideas and partial progress that you have on it. Euclid markers tend to be generous with part marks.

How do I practice a math contest?
The best way to prepare for math contests is to do lots of practice problems and learn the material necessary to solve the problems. There are also many books and online handouts/lectures you can use to improve your problem-solving skills.
