Can you screw eco deck?

Ekodeck+ boards are made for installation with the Quickfix Hidden Fastening System, providing you with a surface free of fasteners and a faster, easier installation. If installing on hardwood joists, it is recommended to predrill your joists to avoid breaking screws.

How do you screw in Ekodeck?

Fixing Method: Only use ecodek® approved stainless steel composite deck screws. Screw holes must be countersunk with a Smart-Bit® (available from Ecodek). Fit decking over at least 3 joists with 2 screws at every joist point and decking must be screwed down 20-40mm in from the cut end of the board.

Is Eco deck any good?

Great product It’s a quality product and the deck look great. Easy to work with and the clipping system is great.

What is the gap between composite deck boards?

The gaps between your boards will be between 1/8 and 1/4 inches in most cases. Composite decking can have smaller gaps because it does not expand as much as wood. Anything larger than a 1/4 inch gap could lead to safety issues.

Can Ekodeck be glued?

No – we do not recommend gluing Ekodeck.

What is the gap between Ekodeck boards?

A minimum end gap of 1-3mm applies when using breaker boards. For visual reasons, butt joints should be staggered and additional joist support (i.e. blocking) is recommended to provide a greater fastening area and to avoid splitting the joist or board.

How long does eco deck last?

Long Lasting and Durable Due to the materials that an eco deck is comprised of it won’t rot and more often than not is resistant to insect infestation. Thus eco decking is very durable and can last 20 years or more with little to no maintenance required.

Does Eco deck warp?

Eco deck can easily warp and buckle under some conditions and has a short life span of around 10 years. New Techwood and Trex decking boards are the leading brands on the market in composite decking. They are a much denser board with a thicker profile and are scratch resistant.

Is Ekodeck hot to walk on?

Being a composite, Ekodeck will retain and transfer heat more readily than raw unsealed timber. Especially depending on colour, it can certainly be hot underfoot on a hot day – much like any other…

Can you lay Ekodeck on concrete?

You can’t install Ekodeck directly on top of concrete or a solid surface – it will need to be installed on some sort of framework. If you have adequate drainage beneath your deck which does not allow water to pool, we recommend a minimum of 40mm ground clearance beneath your deck.

Do you need to seal cut ends of composite decking?

1- First, the installation of a composite deck is specific and differs from that of a conventional treated wood patio. 2- The composite board should never be cut, otherwise a cut with a precision carbide blade will be necessary and you will need to apply a treated wood sealer to the cut ends.

Does Eco decking get hot?

The Findings. Overall, the Ekodeck boards were not too far off the surface temperatures of the equivalent timber boards, varying between 4 – 7 degrees hotter. Generally, the surface temperature of a decking material depends on how light or dark the board is, with both timber and composite.

Can you screw composite decking to concrete?

Yes, you can install composite decking on concrete. Concrete patios and other hard surfaces are an ideal place to lay deck tiles because they are stable and durable. Concrete provides a more stable surface for composite decking, compared to surfaces such as gravel or sand.

Is HardieDeck waterproof?

Like traditional timber decking, HardieDeck™ is not a watertight system and is therefore not suitable for applications that require a watertight system.
